Question Points or rewards system for chores

My bf has a 7 year old and we are wanting him to start doing chores, but he doesn't have to at his mom's, so I was thinking of making a rewards or points system for all his chores. For example cleaning room 10 points, folding laundry 5 points and at 50-75 points he can get a toy or something as a reward. Has anyone else done this, or have a better suggestion?

I think this is a great idea and at least worth a try. At 7 he's probably playing computer games and they teach him about earning points, reaching levels, and being rewarded.

See if you can leverage the idea.

I'm curious - let us know how it goes!

Sounds like a great idea. Definitely not too early to be teaching a child a good work ethic and responsibility. I would also make him keep an account of his points. Recording and adding these numbers can strengthen his organization and math skills. Have him compare his accounting to yours before he hands them in though.
